Voices: A Program for Self-Discovery and Empowerment for Girls is gender-responsive program that encourages girls to seek and celebrate their “true selves” by giving them a safe space, encouragement, structure, and support to embrace their important journey of self-discovery. The program advocates a strength-based approach that helps girls to identify and apply their power and voices as individuals and as a group. Voices is led by two qualified female probation officers trained in the curriculum.
The goals of Voices are to:
Decrease substance abuse
Decrease trauma symptoms
Increase in self-efficacy
Increase in prevention of substance use
Schedule: Once a week for 18 weeks, 2 hours each session.
Target Population: Female Youth on Probation ages 12-18
